Crossways: Apocalyptic & Daniel

Sunday October 18 at 8:45am

Daniel is a highly relevant Biblical book for our time.  Its message is “Stand Firm! Trust!” In just one 40-minute session, Dr. Harry Wendt, author of the CROSSWAYS Bible series, will introduce us to its unique literary form, explain its historical background, and unpack its apocalyptic visions. Briefly, the Book of Daniel was produced by an anonymous Jewish writer during the time when Antiochus IV “Epiphanes” sought to abolish the Jewish faith in Judah and replace it with Hellenism. Although the author is unknown, he pretended to be a well-known Jewish personality, Daniel, living during the time of the Babylonian exile.

A helpful summary of the book will be made available to attendees.

A HUGE Thank You to Jack Hendricks for all his dedication and hard work at Good Shepherd in overseeing the renovations as well as building a NEW Manger for the church. This new Manger is able to be easily disassembled and re-assembled to allow for easier setup and takedown.

Thank you for everything Jack, and God Bless!

How did Martin Luther, who sought only the quiet of a monastery, become a pivotal figure in Western history? Why did he object so strongly to indulgences? How did Gutenberg’s new printing press spread his influence? What was the significance of Luther’s relationship with Duke Frederick the Wise? Why did      Luther marry? How did he respond when his young daughter died in his arms?

These and many other topics are addressed in this captivating on-location documentary with the late Dr. Roland Bainton, dean of Luther scholars, long time professor at Yale University, master storyteller, and author of the award-winning Luther biography, Here I Stand.
