Our History

The congregation of Good Shepherd began its life as a subsidized "package mission" of the American Lutheran Church in 1970. The first unit of the facility was planned and constructed under the auspices of the Southern Wisconsin Synod office. In 1971, a mission developer named Rev. Charles Evavoid canvassed and recruited members for the mission. After Rev. Evavoid's tenure of 8 years, Rev. Phillip Borleske became the second pastor and served for 6 years. The present pastor, Rev. Steven Ekblad, arrived in 1986.

In 1988, this ALC congregation merged into the then new church body, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Throughout its history, this congregation has maintained a warm welcoming atmosphere which attracts people of all ages and diverse religious backgrounds. With a clear accent on adult Biblical education, the congregation's unity is clearly grounded in the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ and active in the members' lives.

As of January 2009, our church has
